My commitment to grassroots football dates back to 1983, when my three sons first played for Plough Colts in the Swansea junior league. Since then, my passion for the sport has only grown.
I also ran teams for Plough Colts as my sons transitioned to senior football. From 1993 onwards, I joined Waunarlwydd AFC and assumed various leadership roles within Waunarlwydd AFC (Waun Galaxy). These roles, including Team manager, Secretary, and Chairman, allowed me to make a significant impact on the club's development.
My acceptance to serve on the Swansea Senior League Council in 1998 was a significant milestone in my football journey. It was a testament to my dedication and contributions to the sport, leading to my achievement of Senior life membership with the club and the league. At this time, I am the incumbent Chairman of the SSAFL.
While in the forces, I was honoured to play for Cwmfelin Steel while on leave alongside the late Great Mel Charles.
The highlight has to be when we beat Swansea City at St Helens in the Gwalia Cup Final, winning One Nil. My journey in the SSAFL and Welsh league was thrilling, as I had the privilege of playing for
numerous outstanding teams. The joy of winning championships and Cup competitions in Saturday and Sunday sections and an excellent Thursday League was an experience like no other.
After playing, I became Ragged School's manager and later at another great Club, North End. With both clubs we won the League and Cup competitions, but my highlight has to be winning the Welsh FAW Intermediate Cup with Ragged School against the best teams at the Time of the Welsh League and other leagues that played throughout Wales. Finally, at Vetch Field, we won 2 0 against Porthcawl Town.
Our club's hard work and dedication paid off when we won the Welsh Trophy on another three separate occasions with Ragged School making a total of four. This significant achievement was a testament to our club's strength and resilience, and we were rewarded by being made full members
of the WFA. The last competitive match I played was with my old teammates at S. B. Club at Wembley in the veteran’s league. It was a very good game, and we lost 2 0 to an outstanding Sheffield United Team. Despite the loss, it was a memorable experience.
Later, I stepped down from my position of Secretary at Ragged School to take on the Roles of Vice Chairman and Full Chairman of the SSSAFL, where I served in both capacities for three years each,
totalling six.
We go into season 2024 25 knowing we have to all carry on trying to provide football for everyone reasonably and try to bring our League back to the standard of previous years although up to this
moment we have lost Seven Teams to the WWPL in four years. Also taking in mind the longevity of the SSAFL being One Hundred, and Twenty-Four years old this coming season.

Retired Accountant, I have played for Brynmill at Youth and Senior level, joined Swansea Boys Club in 1973 and became involved in football administration soon after. That playing involvement with the Boys Club continued through to Veterans football, with the group finally hanging up our boots in the early 2000s.
I Became Treasurer of the League in 1982 at the invitation of Colin Ashford, and have been in that role ever since, some might say too long ! Also a huge Swansea City fan. Again, I had no choice in the matter, it was my birth right. As a former Swansea City Trust board member and Supporter Director on the board of Swansea City FC. Football has been a huge part of my life and it has been a privilege to have served on the League Council.
Recent years have seen significant changes in grass roots football and the introduction of the West Wales Premier League presents particular challenges, but I will continue, as an Officer of the League, to strive to provide the best experience that I can for grass roots football in the Swansea area.
